Last Night and Other Thoughts

Last night, as I said in my last (real) post, we went to Picadilly Circus which lived up to it's reputation of "Times Square of London". Basically, it was a mecca for tourism, with things on sale like umbrellas with the Union Jack flag printed on them and "I <3 London" Shirts (which I might need to grab one before I get home...) We got there via the Tube which I was very excited about-- with little or no reason, because it was actually just a hot and sticky tunnel in the ground crowded with people. At any rate, I still got really excited about using my Oyster card (our pass to use public transportation).

The Tube!

When we got to Picadilly, it was overwhelming, to say the least. There were people, cars, and taxi cabs whizzing around in every direction and big red double decker buses and just everything I imagined when thinking about London.

There was also another really exciting thing I discovered last night in Picadilly Circus. Similar to the "cows" in Chicago that were decorated by different artists and placed all throughout the city, London is doing artist designed phonebooths! I spotted two last night and hope to find the others while I'm here!

the red one has small holes with flowers sticking out and the neon yellow one is...neon yellow.

While we were there, we decided to go get food and ventured down toward this Irish Pub where we all got delicious food and some drinks. It was good and relatively inexpensive. Then, we decided to leave to go unpack... which never even ended up happening because I somehow can't seem to motivate myself to just do it! I told myself I must do it today, but I'm still not sure how well that will go over with my full body sore-ness.

Other Thoughts...
Nothing about this trip feels real, I keep listing all of the things I need to do and get distracted by something else. Case in point, the last two nights that I opted to bond with the other kids on my program rather than unpack or the fact that I really need to go exchange money but instead I just...don't. I officially spent my last pound on some starbucks to survive through class today.

Anyway, I better end this here, we're about to reconvene as a group to discuss the play we're going to tonight.  A Comedy of Errors, I'm not sure how that's going to go, but of course I'll keep you updated!
